EC consultation on State Aid rules for Structural Funds & Seal of Excellence

The European Commission has launched a public consultation for a “Targeted extension of the Generak Block Exemption Regulation (GBER)”, which is an important exemption to EU state aid rules.   The initiative intends to extend the scope of the GBER in three main areas:
  • Structural Funds
  • InvestEU
  • H2020/HEU Seal of Excellence
The aim is that resources managed by a Member State – including from the European Structural and Investment Fund managed at national level – and EU funds managed centrally by the Commission can be combined as seamlessly as possible under the next MFF, subject to certain conditions. Targeted simplifications are also envisaged for European Territorial Cooperation and Seals of Excellence under Horizon 2020 or Horizon Europe.   Feedback will be taken into account for further development and fine tuning of the initiative. The Commission will summarise the input received in a synopsis report explaining how the input will be taken on board and, if applicable, why certain suggestions can’t be taken up.   Feedback period: 30 January 2019 – 27 February 2019.   More information Roadmap
