Mission: Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is an Australian Government statutory authority within the industry, innovation and science portfolio, operating under the provisions of the Science and Industry Research Act 1949 (SIR Act). CSIRO’s purpose is defined through the functions we undertake as set out in the Act and through our Corporate Plan. On this basis, CSIRO’s mission is to solve the greatest challenges through innovative science and technology.   Vision: CSIRO is Australia’s innovation catalyst, which aims at collaborating to boost Australia’s innovation performance.
